Stuff Not Made in China on Amazon Prime Day 2023

Looking for Prime Day 2024? There’s a page for that.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member or are thinking of signing up for Prime, you might be aware that Amazon is such a powerhouse in retail that it invented a new holiday, just as big as Black Friday. It’s called “Amazon Prime Day”.

Amazon Prime Day this year runs from Tuesday, July 11 to Wednesday, July 12, 2022. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s basically a second Black Friday. Black Friday got its name because once a year, retailers relied on the day after Thanksgiving to get them out of the red and “in the black” on their balance sheet so they could turn a profit for the year.

Those of you who have followed me know that I have a love-hate relationship with Amazon. On the “hate” side, Amazon practically aided and abetted China companies as they took over manufacturing, stole intellectual property, and then re-sold copycat products under their own brand names (or in some cases, the Amazon Basics name). And I’ve spent a lot of time on this site decrying how anti-consumer they were in lobbying against a mandate for online retailers to put country of origin on their product pages.

On the “love” side, I continue to be impressed by innovations that Amazon brings to retail. And there are ever-so-slight signs that Amazon is starting to “get it”, from seeing more Amazon Basics products being made outside of China, to seeing country of origin on their product pages, to building pages like this Made in Italy page.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe for a second that Amazon has “found a conscience”; clearly Amazon is looking out of its own best interests. Which is the point of this page.

What if despite Amazon’s continued reality of pushing China-made products to the forefront, there was a disproportionate number of people who bought products at exceptional deals that were NOT made in China? My hope in creating this page is to highlight both. If you see a great deal for a product not made in China, please let me know in the comments and I’ll add it to the list!

So without further adieu, let’s go to the deals…starting today—July 11!

This list will be updated all day as new deals arrive. Good luck!
