Popular Toys Not Made in China for Christmas 2024

A while back I wrote my piece on iconic toys not made in China. If your child doesn’t have one of everything on that list, be sure to buy what he or she is missing from it!

I thought I might follow up that post with a resources for parents, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas who are shopping for toys trending for Christmas 2024.

This holiday season I’m going to try something new. I’m going to be checking in on Amazon’s best selling toys page and as I see products that aren’t made in China, I’ll list them here. (Sure, it would be much easier if Amazon had a feature where you could filter products by country of origin, but of course they don’t want to make that information easy for you to find. I do).

This list is in no particular order, except that everything on it appeared—at once point—in Amazon’s top 50 from the week before Black Friday until we’re about two weeks from Christmas.

This list will continue to grow as products fall out and others take their place—but being on this list means that at one point during Christmas shopping season 2024, this product was one of the best selling toys on Amazon (and thus, the world).

While this list is going to look big, remember that each of these is the equivalent of me finding a needle in a haystack. For every toy not made in China, I’m finding about 10-20 that are. We’ve got a long way to go, but step one is rewarding toy makers who have left.

Better yet…go to Fat Brain Toys!

I’ve mentioned before but it bears repeating that FatBrain is by far the best place to shop for toys. Why? Let us count the ways:

  1. Every product on Fat Brain is hand-selected by their staff. No third-party sellers spamming the listings with counterfeit products.
  2. Fat Brain does sell products made in China (it has to), but it does have ACCURATE country of origin information, curated by the Fat Brain Staff. Contrast that to Amazon, where Amazon leaves it up to the manufacturer who invariably “forget” to update their listings when they move to China
  3. Having accurate information allows them to something Amazon never could: allow you to filter by country, including literally Not Made in China. Usually about 10% of their toys fall under this category, a lot less than we all wish, but a lot more than a few years ago. Amazon deliberately keeps this information hidden so people get conditioned not to think about it. I love how Fat Brain has gone the other way.

Here’s my advice: go to Fat Brain Toys, go to the Best Sellers, New Releases, or any individual Categories page, and filter by not made in China (or the particular country whose manufacturers you want to support, such as Taiwan or the United States).

If you go to the All Categories page, you can see at a glance all the toys not made in China. They may not be the cheap plastic injection molded junk from big brands like Fisher Price or Mattel…but that’s a great thing. Those companies are driven by corporate greed and not a love of toys, kids, and fun. The manufacturers you see here absolutely are.
