Plastic crystal glasses made in Taiwan

Post by steve »

You'd think that China would have cornered the supply chain on plastic and acrylic "glass" tumblers. And heaven knows they've tried: they churn out an endless supply of cheap, flimsy, easily scratched plastic junk that consumers who don't know any better will buy, thinking they got some kind of "deal". By now you know the vicious circle: China dumps cheap but "good enough" products on the American consumer, American consumers buy them up and enough leave reviews for Amazon to continue to serve the cheap China products at the top and push the truly quality products into search obscurity. Part of the reason I started this blog and this forum was to help give a little visibility to these high quality products that Amazon "hides".

Taiwan manufacturing is still the best in the world in various categories. We all know about semiconductors. Most of us know about bikes. But I wouldn't have guessed they'd be the king of the hill at plastic glassware.

Bellaforte Acrylic Drinking Tumblers

From what I can tell, Bellaforte plastic "glasses" are made in Taiwan from acrylic sourced from the USA. They've become my favorite glass to drink water, juice, and soda from. They really do look like crystal, and they have a heft to them that's not as heavy as glass, but much thicker and more sturdy that what you'd think a plastic cup would feel like. Even after going through the dishwasher dozens of times, they still look clear as glass every time. These are large sized glasses, about the size of a pint glass.

bzyoo 14oz Liberty Short Tumbler Set

Bzyoo is a Taiwanese company that sells directly to consumers. These are smaller tumblers that hold 14oz, so they're good for cocktails or cold sodas. They're also made in Taiwan using Tritan acrylic from the USA, but their design is patented. The result is a near seamless tumbler that looks just like glass.

Lily's Home Unbreakable Premium Drinking Glasses

Lily's Home is a brand that appears to be out of Hong Kong, but they do make these in Taiwan as well. The quality isn't quite up to bzyoo, but if you're looking something that literally looks like crystal, these are virtually indistinguishable from a distance.

Spread the word about these acrylic "glassware". It's only a matter of time before China tries to flood the market and take over this market like they did so many others. The only way to prevent that is to support manufacturers who still take pride in craftsmanship and haven't turned over their IP to China to steal and destroy them like so many American companies have done.

Are Plastic Crystal Glasses from Taiwan Worth Buying?

Post by Rowan4 »

I recently came across some beautifully designed plastic crystal glasses made in Taiwan, and I was honestly impressed. They look just like real crystal but are lightweight, durable, and perfect for parties or everyday use. The best part is you don’t have to worry about breaking them, which makes them a great option for families, picnics, or outdoor gatherings.
