Golf mats not made in China

Post by steve »

Golf mats are getting more and more popular as more people set up golf simulators and practice mats in their back yards or even their living rooms, not to mention the perennial demand from places like country clubs, driving ranges, and sports centers. You'd think a product like this that's made of all synthetic material would be dominated by China (and the extreme cheap low end is) but the fact that artificial turf companies manufacture and sell in bulk helps keep factories running in the USA. Anyone looking to build anything more than a toy setup would do well to look at the options made in the USA.

Here are the ones I've found, most of them based in Dalton, Georgia, known as the "carpet capital of the world" which despite China's best efforts to capture still hasn't (likely because the cost of shipping huge amounts of flooring is prohibitive and/or healthy tariffs are in place).

Dura Pro by DW Quail Golf - Company based in Dalton, GA. This is their entry level consumer mat, a 3' x 5' mat made in the USA with 19mm thickness for $89. You can visit their site here.

All Turf Mats - This company is also out of Dalton, Georgia and also has a 3' x 5' mat for about $60. Their Web site is here.

USA Turf Pros - Yet another company out of Dalton (see a pattern?). They're also making these out of the USA.

P2 Golf Products - This is a premium option from a small business in America that makes other products for golf ranges in the USA.

Motivo - another higher-end option manufactured in the USA.

SynLawn Golf - another great option.

There is only one way to destroy all of these companies, and that's for consumers to start thinking they gave save a few dollars by buying cheap knockoffs from China.
