Artificial Christmas Trees not made in China

Post by steve »

The artificial Christmas tree market was one of the first to be overtaken by China, and has been completely dominated by China for years. It's easy to see why. Artificial trees are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a petroleum by-product. While other countries had to deal with environmental regulation after regulation, China became the world's top producer of PVC, not to mention polypropylene.

China went from dominating plastic Christmas trees to dominating just about everything made with plastics. While American and European executives were patting themselves on the back for taking advantage of cheap China labor and lax environmental laws, China began controlling the supply chain of every industry that had plastic components—which meant every industry. There used to be Christmas tree manufacturers in the United States, but they've all either outsourced to China completely or went out of business.

I was writing a blog post on best Christmas ornaments not made in China, when I stumbled upon Christmas trees by Honeywell, of all companies. That's right, the same ones that make air filters and thermostats (as well as a lot of industrial products). They have this six-foot tree, complete with lights for sale.

Here's their entire lineup:

5 foot (Frances) - https://amzn.to/3Z5XKe7

6 foot (Eagle Peak Pine) - https://amzn.to/498DixU

6.5 foot (Regal Fir) - https://amzn.to/3ZmywcP

6.5 foot (Churchill Pine) - https://amzn.to/494ZGIk

6.5 foot (Crestone Fir) - https://amzn.to/3VdpmwP

6.5 foot (Whistler Fir) - https://amzn.to/3OowItp

7 foot (Regal Fir) - https://amzn.to/3OoPJfl

7.5 foot (Eagle Peak Pine) - https://amzn.to/3OnsFxJ

They're all made in Cambodia.

Sadly, all of them that had US manufacturing operations (many for decades) shut them down and moved their manufacturing to China. Ironic that a name like "National Christmas Tree" would end up throwing the nation under a bus.

Not a real Christmas tree but still worth to mention.
The outdoor Christmas trees of Fairybell are made in Holland.
Fighting a lonely battle... People, please stop buying Chinese crap!
