Wanted to begin a fast discussion on something I have been considering a lot recently durable newborn infant casual shoes. Not all baby shoes are made equal, I found when my little son began cruising around the furniture and taking those unsteady first steps.

Sorry I'm late to your post. Did a little digging and found a few good options!

Ten Little Baby Shoes

This is the brand I see cited most often online as the brand that consistently has stayed away from China. Most of its products appear to be made in Turkey, with some made in the USA and Italy. I really appreciate how they go out of the way to design AND sell their shoes in a way that stresses healthy development and proper sizing.

Starry Knight Design

These soft-soled shoes are handmade in Montana by a team of local women. They use 100% leather and suede and have been selling on Etsy for 14 years. Their products get rave reviews, but because they're not on Amazon no one knows about them. If you visit their Web site you'll see photos of the woman who actually make the shoes and the kinds of equipment and material they use. It's a throwback, in a very good way, to a time when companies treated your children as children, not as walking dollar signs.

Little Pitterpat

Little Pitterpat is another brand that has been selling on Etsy since 2009 and makes soft-soled shoes out of Montana. Their designs are adorable, and they also get rave reviews. These shoes are mostly fabric and canvas.

Softstar Shoes

Softstar has been covered extensively in the press and on social media. They won me over when I read on their Web site that they're "Handmade By Elves in Oregon, USA".

Kinga Shoes

Shoe making is such a cherished profession in Europe that you'll find many, many more shoemakers there who haven't bowed the knee to China and still value craftsmanship. Kinga Shoes offers a variety of choices from different European brands, all made in Europe.

I hope this helps you and others on your search!

Thanks, Steve! Really appreciate the detailed breakdown. A couple of these brands are new to me, especially Starry Knight Design and Little Pitterpat love the idea of supporting small makers who actually care about quality and kids’ comfort. Softstar has been on my radar, but Kinga Shoes is another solid find. This list is definitely going to help parents looking for durable, non-China options.
