Swim goggles not made in China (for grownups and kids)

Post by steve »

The market is flooded with China-made garbage (including from brands who should know better, I'm talking to you Speedo). But there are still great not-made-in-China choices.

Grownups:

- THEMAGIC5 swim goggles - Named by Swimming World as their top pick, their flagship products, custom fit swim Goggles are made in the US (Charlotte, NC) and Europe (Copenhagen, Denmark). They also sell standard fit goggles; its not clear where those are made, but hopefully someone can let us know.

- Aqua Sphere Kayenne - These are rated as the #1 choice by Wirecutter, and are made in Italy!

- Cressi Planet Adult Swim Goggles - Well-loved brand since 1946. Made in Italy.

Kids:

- Aqua Sphere Kayenne Junior - The kids version of the #1 rated model by Wirecutter. Also made in Italy.

- Cressi Wide View Swim Mask - Made in Italy.

Great find, Paul!

Swimways is a brand of Spin Master, a public company based in Canada (listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange as TOY) that all but led the charge of licensing intellectual property, finding the cheapest factories to make them. In 2001 they famously laid off hundreds of people at the Ohio Art Company and moved the manufacturing of Etch a Sketch to China. They were behind iconic brands like Kinetic Sand, Hatchimals, and ZhuZhu pets that never even got a chance to be made in a US or Canadian factory.

It's cool to see that they're doing some production out of Indonesia. I'm sure it wasn't out of the goodness of their hearts; they were probably pushed into it because of tariffs or something. But it's a very hopeful sign. Thanks for sharing!
