Predictably, China manufacturers are flooding the market because every brand from Yeti to Stanley decided "I'll just add a $2 plunger with a handle to my cup and charge my loyal customers $50 for it". Of course, a good French press is much more than that.

There are happily other options; here are few of the ones I researched that didn't make the cut for that article. Of course, Amazon is pushing non-China manufacturers down to page 7 or 8, buried in a sea of China makers who are much better at manipulating Amazon's search results.

The French press from Ikea was made in Czech Republic the last time I checked in the store. But be careful with Ikea, they change production countries all the time.
The part number is 002.978.50. The other models with different part numbers are made in China.

Most Bodum french presses are made in Portugal.

i saw ur article on coffee makers, but are there other options around french presses? the bodom u mentioned from brazil looks pretty good, but i really want one from europe.
