Gaggia still produces in Italy. They've got a long experience in home and professional machines - and I really prefer the Taste of espresso made with Gaggia machines! Prices for a semi-pro portafilter machine start at 500,- (ofcourse you won't get an automatic for this price) which isn't much if you take in account that china-made deLonghi in this category range from 800-2000,- depending on how much they got to show off. So made in Italy sometimes even comes a bit cheaper than made in China which means DeLonghi is a complete rip-off!

We love our Jura! Good fresh coffee was worth saving for the machine :)

I have begun researching espresso makers not made in China, most are. It looks like you can find high end models made in Italy. Any other info out there?
