I’ve been trying to be more intentional about where the things I buy are made, and I’m running into a wall with women’s winter coats.
Everywhere I look I see the same brands and styles — the big puffer parkas like the Canada Goose “Expedition” style, The North Face Arctic Parka, Columbia’s long down coats, Patagonia’s down jackets, etc. I also see a ton of fashion-forward ones from brands like Aritzia (Super Puff), Michael Kors, and the various “Arctic Expedition”-type coats that are all over department stores and Amazon.
The problem is, I can’t seem to figure out which of these are actually made in China versus somewhere else. Most websites don’t list country of origin, and it’s obviously not something you can see until you physically check the tag.
Are there any reputable women’s winter coat brands that are not made in China (e.g., made in Canada, USA, Europe, etc.)? Or is there a reliable way to check country of origin before buying online?
I’m not necessarily looking for luxury-only options, but I am open to paying more for quality and ethical manufacturing. Just trying to avoid guessing and returning things over and over.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
