Pens not made in China

by steve » Tue Sep 02, 2025 5:11 pm

I posted a list of NMIC pens I like on my blog post about school supplies, but I figured I'd post just about pens here.

As I wrote, these are my go-to when it comes to buying pens.

Pilot G2 Gel Pens - Made in Japan

Uni-Ball Signo 207 Gel Pens - Made in Japan

Since I wrote that piece, I found a few more that I like a lot:

Muji Gel Pens - Made in Japan

Mitsubishi Gel Pens - Made in Japan (same company that makes Uniballs)

I was just on Amazon, and China manufacturers are getting more and more sneaky. When I searched "muji pen" I see a 10-pack that looks identical to Muji, from the barrel design to the sticker on the pen. Of course it's not authentic, but they get away with it because they don't claim to be Muji, they rely on the foolishness of consumers.

Let me know if you find others!
