GOODBULB is now making LED bulbs in Fargo North Dakota!
An ongoing search for bulbs not made in China led me to discover a new company which has just opened in Fargo North Dakota, billed as the United States' ONLY current factory that makes LED bulbs in USA (as of August 2026). According to the website a 49-year-old lightbulb salesman named Tom Enright has "spent the last eight years developing his lightbulb company in Fargo" and he sounds like a man with a lot of passion for this important project. He built a state of the art lightbulb factory to the highest standards possible.
I have not tried these bulbs yet as I am actually searching for FLUORESCENT TUBE bulbs, and Goodbulb only makes LED screw-type bulbs. But I wanted to help spread the word because I think people need to know about this company. They just started selling their USA bulbs in July 2026 and I hope they really take off!
To Tom Enright's credit, he admits that although much of the product is assembled in Fargo, some of the components still have to be "imported" because no domestic suppliers currently make them, HOWEVER he says "phase two" of the factory is to start making other parts there as well. I still say that's way better than the 100% Chinese alternative and if we all support this Goodbulb company then they will have the money to be able to grow and continue on with Phase Two.

Here's something interesting.

This is literally the service agreement you need to agree to before using the "DayBetter" app, an app that's required to control cheap color-changing LED light bulbs.

Thousands upon thousands of Americans install this app and blindly agree to these terms of use, simply by using the app.

Very cool, thanks for sharing, Paul!

I've been pleased that more and more Amazon Basics and Amazon Essentials products have been getting made outside China. I hope they continue.

For Americans:
I found out that the Amazon basics Smart E12 bulbs are made in Thailand.
It connects to Alexa only.

So I’ve now found both a European bulb from IKEA and an American bulb from Amazon that’s made in Thailand. It seems that an LED lamp factory has opened in Thailand. This could perhaps be the company WIP.

For Europeans.
I found out that the Ikea Kajplats E27 470 lumens (part no. 006.113.07) is made in Thailand.
It connects to Matter.

NOTE, alle other Ikea Kajplats products and bulbs with higher lumens are made in China!

With all the over-regulation we have in the US, you'd think we could require that 1) country of origin is more prominently shown on packaging, and 2) that e-commerce sites allow you to filter searches on country of origin. Takes WAY too much work to find products like this.

Thanks for creating this site, it's a good start.
Don't believe what Amazon says - these are NOT made in USA. Look at the reviews of people who ordered them thinking they were. They were hoodwinked.

Yes, all made in China here in Europe.
Good that they are made in Mexico for the US!

I was pretty happy to see that Philips Hue bulbs for the US market are mostly made in Mexico now. Unfortunately I believe in European markets they're still made in China.

Almost impossible to find anything that's either 'Made in the UK' (I'm in the UK), or at least not 'Made in China'. Even more difficult to find RGB (LED) bulbs in that category.

Recently had two Energizer bulbs that faded and went dead after about two months (made in China), and several lava lamp bulbs (unbranded) that died after a few weeks (I think the longest one lasted about two months - again, made in China).
